Financial Obligations and Living Arrangements
Tuition and Fees
For the 2009-2010 academic year, tuition rates are $331.79 per credit-hour for Florida residents and $818.66 per hour for nonresidents.
The typical entering clinical student will register for 12 credits in the first year and second year. It takes one calendar year to become a resident
in the state of Florida. We strongly recommend that entering students begin the process of establishing residency immediately after moving here
(e.g., get a Florida driver's license, purchase Florida automobile tags). The current graduate catalog has information on the process of establishing
residency for tuition purposes.
The large majority of graduate students receive tuition waivers. For example,
most TA and RA positions come with a tuition waiver. The tuition waiver usually
covers a portion of tuition costs (approximately 82%) and students are responsible for additional student fees.
Housing
The cost of living in Tampa is affordable compared with most large cities. Most
one-bedroom apartments rent for approximately $600-750/month, and most two-bedroom
apartments rent for $800-950/month. Many nice apartment complexes are located close
to campus. For more information about housing and Tampa in general, take a
look at any of several Tampa Bay
area guides on the internet.
